Bird Expedition Overview

​Expedition client(s) will begin their adventure either an hour before sunrise or sunset with a 4wd transport from their place of lodging to the staging area for the sunrise/sunset and the trekking component of the expedition. The guide will scout and locate the target animal and assist clientele on how to get in close. Finally, the apex of the expedition, the client(s) will have the “once in a lifetime” opportunity of photographing these majestic species up close (20-200 feet away) in a wild and scenic setting. Once the client(s) is satisfied with the photographs acquired, the expedition team with slip away undetected. The client(s) will be guided back to the closest vehicle and then transported back to their place of lodging.

Eagles, Falcons, Hawks

There are few wild animals that captivate more people’s interest than these majestic aerial predators. On the Colorado Plateau, with its high diversity of landscapes, numerous species of raptors migrate here to breed during the summer months. These intriguing hunters return to the same nesting grounds each year and guard them fiercely. Whether you want to catch the sun illuminate the feathers of a Golden eagle soaring among a red rock canyon or witness the remarkable speed of the Peregrine falcon hunt other birds midflight, then come 'Experience the Edge' with Bodhi Expeditions!

Owls

The most mysterious and rarely observed of all the wildlife species of the Colorado Plateau are the aerial hunters of the night’s sky, the owls. Although these ancient dwellers of the forests are common throughout the Plateau their nocturnal lifestyle conceals their presence from all but the most fortunate observers. As the grip of winter relinquishes its hold and the forests return to life, these silent hunters fill the night with eerie and haunting sounds ‘giving you the Edge’. Whether you want to just sit under the stars and listen to a breeding pair of Great-horned owls call to each other through the darkness or search a forested stand of pines for an active owl nest filled with downy juvenile owls, then come 'Experience the Edge' with Bodhi Expeditions!

Song Birds

Song birds are the most abundant and colorful characters that inhabit the Colorado Plateau. Every spring hundreds of different species of all sizes and colors migrate to the diverse and scenic habitats found throughout the Plateau. Each species have specific vegetation structure requirements for nesting and foraging while breeding. Whether you are looking to locate a specific species only found here, want to sharpen you birding skills, or just want to sit in a pristine aspen forest and listen to these amazing little creatures sing, then come 'Experience the Edge' with Bodhi Expeditions!
