Herbivores​

Ungulate Expedition Overview

Expedition client(s) will begin their adventure an hour before sunrise or sunset with a 4wd transport from their place of lodging to the staging area for the sunrise and/or the trekking component of the expedition. The guide will scout and locate the target animal and assist clientele on how to get in close. Finally, the apex of the expedition, the client(s) will have the “once in a lifetime” opportunity of photographing these majestic species up close (20-200 feet away) in a wild and scenic setting.  Once the client(s) is satisfied with the photographs acquired, the expedition team with slip away undetected. The client(s) will be guided back to the closest vehicle and then transported back to their place of lodging.

Rocky Mountain Elk

​Elk have earned the title "Monarch of the Rockies" by commanding an overwhelming feeling of awe from those fortunate enough to share their presence. This revered member of the deer family can be extremely challenging to consistently locate for most of the year. They not only live in small skittish bands scattered throughout heavily forested and rugged terrain but they are only active from an hour before dusk to an hour after dawn. Yet once the first leaves of autumn begin to change color, the elk rut erupts, and these once silent giants become highly vocal. Whether you want to watch a herd of cow elk feeding in a misty meadow at dawn or witness a 700 pound bull elk come crashing through the forest towards you while releasing an ear splitting bugle of dominance, then come 'Experience the Edge' with Bodhi Expeditions!

Mule Deer

The mule deer, an icon of the American West, is found throughout the vast wild landscapes of the Colorado Plateau. With one of the largest mule deer herds in the world the Plateau provides endless opportunities to observe these photogenic deer in breathtaking settings. Bighorn Sheep

Bighorn are truly the “Lords of the High Country” as they live in the highest and most rugged landscapes that exist on the Colorado Plateau. This majestic animal, aptly named after it’s extremely large horns are difficult to locate since they live in small scattered bands throughout vast and extremely broken terrain. But as the last of the fall leaves make their final descent to the ground, the bighorn rut begins, and the ominous sound of big rams smashing horns can be heard echoing throughout the high country. Whether you want to watch a groups of yews and lambs feed carelessly amongst the roadside or trek into the backcountry to witness a pair of bighorn rams smash horns along a craggy cliff band, the come 'Experience the Edge' with Bodhi Expeditions!
